A cellphone camera is better than no camera at all.
Location: Downtown San Diego, waiting for the bus.
The smooth shapes of the tree trunk and pattern of the grid are inspiration for the exterior of my future house. The vacant lot that I have my eye on is situated near trees w/trunk patterns similar to this one. I think cement-fiberboard panels could be cut into a simplified interpretation of the tree trunk's almost paint-by-number look. I love gazing up at the Eucalyptus trees in Balboa Park and become a little mesmerized at the whiteness of the trunks punctuated by the slender oval-ish spots of color.

chemistry
I've been trying to soak up everything I can about laboratories - my newfound specialization. I participate in the design of spaces for (not mad)scientists and their underlings. I've been at this for 6 months now and it is a very different flavor of architecture. If architecture were food, laboratory design would be the equivelant of kimchee, lutefisk, or blue cheese. It's very pungent and specific on one's palate and not many people really get into it. I'm adding many new acronyms to my organic memory clump (OMC, a.k.a. the brain) such as Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and Polymerase Chemical Reaction (PCR) or Laminar Flow Fume Hood (LFH). I'd explain further what these things are but then I'd have to killya.
This morning at 0700 hours, marked my Moose's atmospheric adventure from 60 degree San Diego to 12 degree Chicago. I'm not even going to try and remember what cold weather is like. I've deleted those experiences of windshield-ice-scraping and frostbitten ears from my OMC.
