3-D imagery makes me swoon...

Featured on Archinect - the DupliCasa by J. Mayer http://archinect.com/features/article.php?id=80137_0_23_0_M

Beautiful rendering makes me want to turn myself into an avatar w/a trust fund (and an avatar that can eat undisclosed amounts of mac n' cheese w/out gaining a pound) and live in this house at least during my lunch hour and late nights when I can't sleep. The building is very Lautneresque in it's curviness and tight hug of the site.

The Greatest Hits of July 21st - Sept 21st

In no particular order...

1. Flew back to MN for a family situation.
2. Finally met someone who will make fabulous Mac n' Cheese whenever I want it.
3. Now she is my Facebook Wife and real-time girlfriend.
4. Received my Pass letter in the mail for the Mechanical/Electrical Systems exam even though the Zonal Cavity Calculations looked like Klingon alphabet soup to me.
5. Tracked down Jay (sushi master of ONO in hillcrest) and he now works at Azuki on 5th Ave. Michele had him create 7 rolls, each of which got exponentially better until the 7th opened up a momentary portal into the bottom of the ocean, revealing the secrets of the marine universe.
6. Recovered from Mercury spike in my system.
7. 3 Hr. live Radiohead concert @ Chula Vista Amphitheatre + 3 hours of sitting in traffic after show. Andrea and I threw paper airplanes at other cars for entertainment.
8. Day trip to LA for John Lautner: Between Earth and Heaven at UCLA's Hammer Museum. Easily the best architecture exhibit I've ever seen due to the quantity and originality of the drawings and the custom-made scale models. Also, it's my fantasy to wake up one day in the Chemosphere house as a Bond girl. Great company w/Richard and his pals.
9. MN Visitors: Camille and Vinny.

mechanical and electrical systems taking over!!!

On Saturday I took the ME test and walked out feeling like I always do which is, I just don't know. Studying was an inward meditation of how buildings are heated, cooled, ventilated, lighted, plumbed, glazed, insulated, etc, etc, anything related to the operational comfort and safekeeping of the users, occupants and dwellers of a building. I'll probably pay a consultant for this knowledge in my future practice but for now it was what I had to know. So, in the spirit of the acquisition of new information, during one of my study breaks I tried a new restaurant in downtown, POKEZ, a graffiti'd, stickered, tattooed Mexi-hole-in-the-wall with great Carne Asada tacos, chips-n-salsa.
